It is very hard to do what you truly love without the support of the people around you. Sometimes the whole world acknowledges the effort you put into something at which you are good, but it no longer brings you joy or you do it without passion. You feel no real reward, you want to give up your good salary and feel alive again.

Should this be a new hobby reserved for your free time? Or should you feel free all the time doing what you love and try to monetise it? It's up to you, of course. Undoubtedly, it's not out of true love that your boss keeps dumping stuff on you because "no one else will do it as well as you can." You may be flattered to begin with but after the blush comes the fever and the burn. People must know what makes you tick and they must allow you time to recharge. It is all about people in the end. And balance.

You may be a great actor who would like to start crocheting colourful hats instead. You may have a successful company, but what you really want is to own a bar. You may be a doctor with many years of practice, but you have always wanted to write novels. You probably cannot give up your career and you accept that your friends and colleagues might think you are a bit weird. At any cost, you should make your passion known to everyone. 

Sometimes taking a new path means you will lose a lot. Money, comfort, popularity, authority, maybe even friends. But in the end, you win. You win your true self. You save yourself. You stop doing what you know best and start living with a new curiosity for the thing that inspires you and makes you feel like you can grow again. And you may not be successful in it for a very long time, it may not be the best career step. It can even be perceived as a regression and everyone is against it. But if your body, your soul and your heart don't feel that way, if they are painfully attracted to this new place, this won't be a step back for you, no matter what.

It's hard to recognise your new self when all others want is your old version. Those who will stay with version 2.0 are the ones who really love you for what you are and your potential. It is worthwhile to understand who they are and to meet all the people who are yet to enter your life, precisely because of what you are NOW.
